Featured SpeakerAlicia Williamson Garcia
Alicia Williamson Garcia has been blessed with the ministry to articulate the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and word. Her award-winning vocals combined with her ability to articulate God's truths have made her a national favorite for ministry and women's events. A native of Florence, S.C., Alicia began performing in her local church at age five. At age seven, she trusted Jesus as her Lord and Savior while listening to her father's first sermon. Alicia later graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, SC with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. Upon graduation, she joined the contemporary Christian group TRUTH and recorded her signature song, "There Is A Hope."
Alicia began her personal ministry in 1993 and partnered with local churches, ministries and organizations to lead worship. Alicia has been privileged to partner with many ministries including Precept Ministries, The Brooklyn Tabernacle, Dr. Tony Evans of the Urban Alternative, Women of Faith, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, INSP, CBN, In Touch with Charles Stanley, The Gaither Homecoming and Food For the Hungry. "As I have quieted myself and have purposely set aside time to study the Word of God, He has opened doors for me that I could never open myself," she explains. Visit Alicia at www.womeninworship.org
Worship and ConcertSelah
Eclectic, yet accessible, Selah's music remains undeniably unique. The group's evolving sound is indebted to each member for its broad pallette. Though all three enjoy a variety of styles, each individual is deeply rooted in his or her historic favorites. Allan bleeds country and bluegrass, Todd breathes classic rock and yesteryear's CCM, and Amy marches to the beat of pop and urban gospel.
Thanks to that inclusiveness, the group continues to reach a broad audience. And what they say to that audience is as vital as ever. "It's important that people leave our concerts encouraged, that they don't leave there the way they came," says Amy. "If we can remind them that God is real, and He is here, and He will take care of them, we're doing what He wants us to do." Visit Selah at www.SelahOnline.com
Special GuestAngie Smith
Women around the world feel as though they're lifelong friends with Angie Smith, and most of them have never met her in person. They've come to know Angie through her transparent, warm, witty blog Bring The Rain. It began as the story of her fourth daughter's brief life and became an opportunity to combine Angie's two greatest passions: helping to heal people's hearts and writing. The wife of Todd Smith (lead singer of hit Christian contemporary group Selah), Angie co-wrote the song "I Will Carry You" (found on Selah's CD You Deliver Me) and authored a book by the same name. Angie, Todd, and their daughters live in Tennessee. Visit Angie at angiesmithonline.com/
